Delays Now Expected in San Diego Housing ProjectCategory: Recent Articles | Permalink Published: Friday, November 06, 2009 As many homeowners and renters may know from experience dealing with a water leak can be a sometimes be a mess. But a leak that runs from one floor to the next? How about 41 floors? Well that is just what happened on November 5th around 6:30pm on the 41st floor of the Vantage Pointe Apartments located on 9th and A streets of San Diego. Water damage was found all throughout the building according to local firefighters. Basically this is just another setback in the development of this project. A huge setback really, especially considering the fact that this is the largest housing projects in San Diego. And according to one of the firefighters there is water damage from the 41st floor all the way down. The leak was said to be caused by a failed gasket on a water supply line on the 41st floor. The water from there leaked down the trash chute, ultimately ending in the basement, where six inches of water had collected. Unfortunately the leak fried the entire electrical system for the high rise towers. This means that the management company is now required to provide personnel as fire watch until the fire systems are back in place at the building. While the tower is not yet occupied but near completion, dry wall and carpeting were already in place and damaged by the water leak. The water had to be shut off and pumped out of the building, leaving residual damage all throughout the building. This water leak may impede the completion of this project for quite some time.
